I think this is a big problem with a lot of experienced devs. They stop learning and stop wanting to change what they do.

There is something to be said for being a specialist and having really deep knowledge of something, but not many people go far enough to have that deep knowledge. Then they just keep doing the same thing year after year and never consider if it still right for their projects and needs.
